Resting just for a moment, a quintet of vintage butterfly brooches alights briefly and beautifully among polished beads of obsidian, their happily-hued enameled and painted wings all the more vibrant against the rich black of the beads.  The addition of colorful spacer beads (some gemstone, some antique African glass) among the obsidian discs contributes additional brightness to the design, and we love that the butterflies are detachable, allowing them to be worn elsewhere, differently, or not at all on the strands. A gilt copper clasp fastens the necklace at 18.5" in length.
